0.3: Main Health issues likely to interfere with the socio-economic development of the community in Rwanda. To be updated :

As you know, over a long period of time ( from 2010 up to three years ago ) every year, we readjusted our academic programs ( Master’s in Public Health-Master of Science, in Epidemiology- FELTP – Health informatics ) according to the new Health Programmes of  MOH.

Furthermore, we took into account the comments from various stakeholders ( Training participants ).

It is within this framework that the Module 8 formerly entitled “Community-based Health Interventions and Behaviour Change” became “ Health and Communication”.

The different units of this module include:

• Health Promotion  and Behaviour Change,
• Interpersonal Communication and Health,
• Team  Building and Training,
• Media and Health,
• Community - Based Health Interventions.

(This Module makes the difference with “ Master of Science in Epidemiology” for which the Module VIII = Applied Epidemiology is made up of the following course units: Epidemic Surveillance – Forensic Epidemiology and – Special Epidemiological Methods ).

 Note that the former Advanced Health Economics was replaced by Health Financing being a component-specific for MPH( another difference compared to MSc EPI ).

Most of the Health problems are due to the negative behaviour with then a negative influence on Health. To change the negative behaviour by adopting a positive behaviour,  comprehensive information on the Health problem for which the behaviour change is expected are needed. Therefore the health care providers should be skilled on the way of providing the desired information.
