GIS6163 Environmental Economics and Management of Environmental Projects
Semester 1

The module equips student in economic principles and techniques applied to environmental and natural resource management; explain the role of environmental economics in the development process in general, and in the integrated management of environmental resources in particular. This course provides students with both theoretical and empirical knowledge about the operation and the management of environment and development projects in developing economies.

 Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • Theoretical tools of economic analysis relevant to the problems of environment particularly in less developed countries
  • current policy debates and policy making process relating to environment economics as well as linking policy research and policy-making process and implementation.
  • Dimensions and aspects of development projects.
  • Range of established techniques of enquiry or methods in management of development projects
