GIS6268 Environmental Impact Assessment

This module is designed to provide a critical overview of the theory and practice of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) at a national, regional, and international level, by focusing on environment and biodiversity conservation for sustainable development. Students will have opportunity to explore the EIA process and application of EIAs through case studies and will be equipped to carry out EIAs and to evaluate completed EIAs.

Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

1. Importance of EIA of projects for a better decision-making towards preserving the environment

2. Administration and procedures that apply in the different jurisdictions
