EM80564 Research Project for Environmental Planning and Management
Trimester 3
Brief Description of Aims and Content
  The aim of this module is to equip students' knowledge and skills that will help them to design their own final research project on environmental planning and management related topics. In details, the module will focus on the following aspects: understanding the meaning of science and research; formulating research problems; conducting conceptual and research frameworks; conducting a critical reading; undertaking a well-structured technical writing; ethics & professionalism in science & use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated tools in environmental research.

LEANING OUTCOMES

 At the end of the module the students should be able to:

  • Define major types of scientific research;
  • Explain major research approaches in geographical and environmental studies;
  • Analyse methods and techniques of identifying a research topic);
  • Discuss the role and responsibilities of a supervisor;
  • Explain main research proposal stages;

  • Discuss the template of writing and presenting a research project;

 This module comprises two main parts: (1)Theoretical part and (2)Practical part.

  • Formulation of objectives, hypotheses, and research questions
  • Methods and techniques of collecting both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Methods of analyzing and presenting collected data.
