GNU: CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY AND HEMATOLOGY
Semester one

This module is designed to prepare students with a comprehensive understanding of the biochemical basis of human diseases and the laboratory tests used to guide their diagnosis and management. The student will have a strong foundation in the principles and practices of clinical biochemistry and Hematology required to understand the molecular characteristics, and metabolic changes associated with disease processes, as well as the means of diagnostic investigations. It will also help students acquire skills to handle the related laboratory samples and equipment for appropriate diagnosis.

This module contains the structures, characteristics, and functions of different bio-molecules, their role in metabolic processes, and clinical tests used to diagnose the related diseases as well as the principles for interpretation of their results.
