Section outline

  • Welcome to the Histology and Histotechnology I module.

    Module Aim

This module aims familiarize students about the histology of basic tissues (epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue and nervous tissue) as well as histology of some selected organs. Furthermore, this module also aims to introduce students on principles of histotechniques and laboratory practices.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

    1. Explain histological structure and function of different human cells and tissues.

    2. Understand the basic principles of histotechnology, including fixation, tissue processing, and staining methods.

    3. Identify microanatomical features of human tissues using H&E (hematoxylin and eosin) stained sections.

    4. Troubleshoot and solve technical problems that occur during tissue processing in histology.
