The aim of the Statistics Program is to provide a supportive and intellectually stimulating learning environment that enables undergraduate students to acquire a solid foundation in statistical theory and develop competence in data analysis and its applications. The program seeks to cultivate critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills, preparing graduates to become lifelong learners, pursue advanced studies, and succeed in their professional careers while contributing meaningfully to society.

It further aims to deliver a well-structured four-year academic program that equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and modeling, enabling them to address contemporary challenges in science, technology, economics, and society.

Additionally, the program aims to support the teaching and application of statistical methods across various disciplines within the University of Rwanda, promoting evidence-based decision-making in fields such as science, engineering, health, economics, and the social sciences.

The program also aims to advance knowledge and competence in key areas such as applied statistics, data science, and biostatistics, while serving a diverse student population, including majors, minors, and students from other disciplines requiring statistical expertise.
