This module introduces the BDT students to areas of prevention that are important for the dental professional including many different preventive practices for early detection, risk assessment and prevention of oral diseases There will be oral health promotion programs, needs care for vulnerable populations, school-based oral health programs, screening and provision of basic oral health care package using evidence based approaches.
This module is to enable the student to acquire knowledge and skills in rehabilitating partially edentulous patients and to equip the students with competences of rehabilitating edentulous patients with not more than 4 missing teeth. It is designed to introduce the third-year dental therapy student to the basic concepts of Removable Prosthodontics. Examination of the partially edentulous mouth, theoretical and practical knowledge of partial denture prosthetics. The module will encompass the overall view of Prosthodontics, its relationship to the art and science of dentistry as well as provide the students with the knowledge related to the technique of partial denture construction under laboratory condition. This module is designed to provide strong theoretical and clinical background in removable partial dentures, enabling the students to treat partially edentulous patients. Students are taught the sequential procedures for fabrication of removal partial dentures with emphasis on biomechanical compatibilities
