This module covers the pathologic basis of oral disease, especially the structural and functional manifestations of diseases of the oral and para-oral structures. The module equips the student with knowledge and skills to identify and diagnose primary oral diseases. This module also describes oral medicine, principles of diagnosis of oral manifestations of systemic disease, and management of diseases of the oral mucosa and salivary gland.
The aim of this module is to equip dental students with the knowledge and skills to prevent and early-detect oral diseases through both clinical risk assessment and community-based interventions.
This module will equip the students with knowledge and skills in fundamentals of oral and maxillofacial radiology. Furthermore, it will aid in understanding and use of radiographic techniques and radiation to produce high quality radiographic image which will aid in effective diagnosis and management of dental diseases.
This module is an introduction to the basic concepts and techniques of tooth removal as well as minor oral surgical procedures. Detailed patient history taking and how to conduct physical examination are taught. Importance will be given to the pre-surgical patient evaluation, risk management, pain control, understanding and application of basic surgical principles.
