General Information
Welcome note: You are welcome to this module of Internal Medicine done in year 3 during first trimester as pre-request to several specialties like Pediatrics, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics. Prior to starting Internal Medicine, you must have passed Pharmacology and therapeutics done in year 2. Its theoretical assessment takes two faces, marked over 100% with 50 - 50 for both CAT & final
Course Aim: The aim of Internal Medicine is to enable the learner acquire necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes in the management of common diseases conditions.
Learning outcome: On completion of this course, you should be able to implement patients’ management process leading to quality management and care of clients and patients with different conditions and disorders through:
- Identify and explain the Ethical issues and concepts used in patient handling
- Discus the importance of making a proper patient assessment, accurate diagnosis and giving appropriate treatment.
- Demonstrate skills in assessment of patient for clinical features, complications, order investigations to be done, diagnosis and make management.
