Course image GEP2265 Regional Ecology and Environmental Degradation
Trimester 2
The main objective of the module is to help students describing and explaining major ecological  characteristics  of  the African  Great  Lakes  Region  (AGLR)  in  a  changing environment.

In details, the module will focus on the following topics: types of geo-physical features (geology, relief, climate, biogeography and soils) in the region; natural and man-made factors of environmental degradation; major types of environmental degradation and existing strategies to reverse them in the region; and the assessment of existing policies and development strategies on environmental restoration and/or sustainability at global, regional and national levels. 

As case study, field visits of different national landscapes will be made.
